Student Success
Overview
As research at IU evolves, UITS supports university-wide initiatives
that lower barriers to adopting advanced cyberinfrastructure.
These efforts include opportunities to engage directly with advanced
technologies through teaching, research, and experiential learning. The
Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (ACI) Fellowship Program helps faculty and
students integrate cyberinfrastructure into their teaching and
research, while the Student Intern Program gives students hands-on
experience contributing to tools and services that support research at
IU.
Advanced cyberinfrastructure includes high-performance computing, big
data, cloud computing, networking, advanced visualization, and the
expertise needed to use these technologies effectively. It supports
scientific discovery, research data management, geospatial analysis,
and innovation across disciplines.
Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (ACI) Program
The Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Fellowship Program provides faculty and students with consulting, guidance, and networking opportunities to build skills in advanced cyberinfrastructure. Fellows learn to integrate these technologies into teaching and research while connecting with ACI specialists and community members.
ACI Curriculum Fellows
This program provides a semester-long opportunity for faculty to learn to integrate advanced cyberinfrastructure tools into their curriculum and work with students.
ACI Student Fellows
This program provides a semester-long opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students who utilize advanced cyberinfrastructure to advance the state of their research projects.
Student Interns
The Student Intern Program embeds undergraduate and graduate students in active UITS projects. Interns contribute to tools, documentation, and training that make advanced research computing more accessible across IU while gaining mentored experience that prepares them for careers in technology and research.
Student Interns
Student interns work alongside UITS staff on projects that advance IU's research computing infrastructure, gaining practical experience that prepares them for careers in technology and research.
